The Middies posted the three lowest scores of the day with junior Lucas Hendershot leading the way with a 5-over par 76 at Carlisle Golf Course as Midview cruised to a 24-stroke win over second-place Avon (336) in the Elyria Pioneer Invitational.
The sophomore shot a 2-over-par 74 -- 14 strokes ahead of everyone else -- and Keystone posted four of the top six scores of the day on its way to a 347 total. The Wildcats finished 58 strokes ahead of second-place Bay (405).
Penton's first career hole-in-one on the par-3 fifth hole was the highlight of the day as area teams started off the year at the Amherst Comet Invitation at Oberlin Golf Club.
Longtime Chronicle-Telegram contributor Tim Gebhardt was inducted into the Lorain County Softball Coaches Association Hall of Fame prior to the senor all-star game along with former Wellington, Midview and Elyria coach Duane Sunagel and the late Larry Shaw, whose five-decade coaching career included stops at Keystone, Elyria, Amherst and Midview.
