Another high school football season is upon us. Can Avon repeat as state champs? How will Lorain do in its new home? Will Elyria Catholic capitalize on a hot finish last season? And will Elyria rebound after a winless year? The Chronicle previews the season for those teams and others.
Matt Wilson knew what his team needed to do after going winless in his first season as Elyria's head coach. He's counting on two returning linemen to lead the way in the transformation.
The Middies posted the three lowest scores of the day with junior Lucas Hendershot leading the way with a 5-over par 76 at Carlisle Golf Course as Midview cruised to a 24-stroke win over second-place Avon (336) in the Elyria Pioneer Invitational.
Amherst, which emerged victorious at the Grey Hawk Invitational on Tuesday, was unable to replicate the success, though it did finish eighth out of 22 teams.
Penton's first career hole-in-one on the par-3 fifth hole was the highlight of the day as area teams started off the year at the Amherst Comet Invitation at Oberlin Golf Club.
