WADSWORTH — Playing four matches in five days against perennially strong programs was a challenging slate for the Wadsworth volleyball team to start its season.
Amherst's Avery Hawley and Madison Clappas shook off a 6-1 loss in the first set to win the second 6-4, but ultimately GlenOak's Abbey Caldwell and Jaylynn Crites survived 6-3 in the third Friday to clinch the team victory 3-2.
The Middies posted the three lowest scores of the day with junior Lucas Hendershot leading the way with a 5-over par 76 at Carlisle Golf Course as Midview cruised to a 24-stroke win over second-place Avon (336) in the Elyria Pioneer Invitational.
