"I was very pleased with the performance," said head coach Kara Coffman. "We have a very tough schedule this year and the two teams we played today were very talented, so opening our season with two wins was amazing."
Amherst's Avery Hawley and Madison Clappas shook off a 6-1 loss in the first set to win the second 6-4, but ultimately GlenOak's Abbey Caldwell and Jaylynn Crites survived 6-3 in the third Friday to clinch the team victory 3-2.
Amherst, which emerged victorious at the Grey Hawk Invitational on Tuesday, was unable to replicate the success, though it did finish eighth out of 22 teams.
